FREE article: Rapamycin: Extending Health Span and Life Span

My article titled Rapamycin: Extending Health Span and Life Span has been published in the May 2022, issue of the medical journal, Integrative Medicine: A Clinician’s Journal (IMCJ). I personally feel that the discovery of rapamycin, and subsequently, the discovery of mTOR and autophagy, are collectively, one of the most important health discoveries of all time. Read my article and/or my book on rapamycin. Learn how rapamycin can increase your health span and your life span.

My Interview with Dr. Ron Hoffman on his Intelligent Medicine Podcast about my new book Rapamycin, mTOR, Autophagy & Treating mTOR Syndrome

Dr. Ron Hoffman, MD is a New York-based Functional Medicine physician. In addition to his medical practice, his Intelligent Medicine podcast is the longest-running M.D.-hosted health show on syndicated radio. Dr. Hoffman recently interviewed me on the topic of my new book which is titled Rapamycin, mTOR, Autophagy & Treating mTOR Syndrome. Rapamycin is the most promising life extension drug that has ever been discovered, resulting in 25-60% life extension in various species of animals. In animal models, rapamycin has been shown to slow down the onset of many age-related disease. In the first-ever human clinical trial, a rapamycin analog substantially improved immune system function in elderly humans, which is an indication that rapamycin can improve both health span and life span in humans. Here are the links to part 1 and part 2 of my interview with Dr. Ron Hoffman on his Intelligent Medicine podcast.

Slow/Reverse Aging with PEMF

PEMF medical devices effectively slow and reverse biological aging. A Microcirculatory Theory of Aging has been proposed by Dr. Kunlin Jin and published June 2019 in Aging and Disease. Dr. Jin’s A Microcirculatory Theory of Aging explains that poor micro-capillary circulation causes hypoxia (low oxygen), which results in increased free radical damage, especially to mitochondria. This results in a decline of cellular energy production and accelerated aging. Read more

PEMF & A New Theory of Aging

A new theory of aging titled A Microcirculatory Theory of Aging has been proposed by Dr. Kunlin Jin and published in the June 2019 issue of Aging and Disease. Dr. Jin’s theory explains that poor circulation in the body’s micro-capillaries is the fundamental cause of aging. It is the 70,000 miles of micro-capillaries, NOT your arteries, veins & heart, that deliver oxygen & nutrients to the trillions of cells in your body.

Dr. Jin’s theory provides a deeper layer of understanding to the aging process. Poor micro-capillary circulation causes hypoxia (low oxygen) in cells which increases production of free radicals and specifically damage to DNA in mitochondria. Thus, poor micro-capillary circulation results in decreased delivery of nutrients & oxygen to cells and a decline in production of cellular energy (ATP). This causes cells to under function and mal-function, resulting in cellular death. This is the underlying cause of cellular death and aging.

CoQ10: My #1 Life Extension Nutrient/Doubles Lifespan In Mice (Order here: 20% discount)

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is one of the body's most important antioxidants and it is also required for energy production in all cells. In this post, I will review a study that reveals coenzyme Q10's remarkable ability to slow down the aging process. Coenzyme Q10 is truly a remarkable life extension nutritional supplement. I will also explain why most CoQ10 products have very low rates of absorption. My readers can order highly absorable Bio-Quinone Q10 Gold at 20% discount.

CoQ10 Dramatically Extends Life Span: Studies evaluating things that influence lifespan are difficult to conduct in humans because they take too long. Instead, researchers use small animal models which compresses the story into a much shorter time scale. I want to discuss an experiment done with mice that reveals the power of coenzyme Q10. This experiment was conducted by Emile Bliznakov, MD who subsequently wrote a book titled The Miracle Nutrient: Coenzyme Q10.

SQUATS: Key Exercise for Life Extension

Muscle strength really matters.

In a previous blog post I recommended doing squats just before meals as a great exercise for weight loss. In this post, I am going to review studies which report that your leg strength is one of the most reliable predictors of your longevity and the quality of your life as you age. And, doing squats regularly is the BEST exercise to build your leg strength.

Squats: Building Leg Strength Reduces Risk of Dying: In one study, 81 elderly patients were followed for a…

Metformin: A True Anti-Aging Drug

Metformin Reduces Age-Related Diseases

Metformin (brand name Glucophage) is the most commonly prescribed drug in the world for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Because metformin effectively lowers both blood glucose and blood insulin levels, it also reduces the risk to many other chronic degenerative diseases. Consequently, in addition to its use in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, metformin is now becoming recognized as a therapy to slow down aging.

In 2016 the FDA made an unprecedented announcement when it approved a study to examine the effect of metformin on the biology of aging in humans. This study is titled Targeting Aging with Metformin, or the TAME study. This is the first time in history that the FDA has approved any human clinical trial with a goal of establishing a drug’s ability to protect against multiple diseases of aging. In previous studies with different species of animals, therapy with metformin has resulted in significant increases in lifespan. Many healthy people are now electing to take metformin for its ability to slow down aging processes and increase longevity. I want to explain how metformin works so you will understand why it produces so many additional health benefits beyond treating type 2 diabetes.
